Kismet was designed to elicit and respond to human social behavior through gaze, facial movement, vocal rhythm and other cues. The research asked how readable behavior can organize interaction and learning, not whether a robot literally experiences a human emotion.
Social robots move AI into relationships, homes, classrooms and care settings. That makes evaluation broader than task accuracy: designers must examine trust, attachment, accessibility, privacy, culture, power and whether human users understand what the system can and cannot do.
