The period explains why AI has always drawn from computing, mathematics, neuroscience, engineering and social questions rather than one invention.
Calling this the “birth of AI” erases parallel work and the women and technicians who programmed early machines. The 1943 neuron model is an abstraction, not evidence that brains and computers work identically.
