State the purpose and audience
“Write about energy” leaves many hidden choices. “Create a 150-word plain-language explanation of household electricity use for a twelve-year-old, using only the supplied notes” defines a different task. Say who will use the result and what they will do with it.
Separate drafting from deciding. You can ask for options, questions, structure, counterarguments, or a first draft without pretending the system owns the goal or the final claim. If the task is unclear to you, first ask the system to help expose missing decisions.

Give context selectively
Useful context may include a source passage, definitions, examples, prior decisions, tone, constraints, and the desired output shape. Point to evidence and ask the system to distinguish supplied facts from assumptions or missing information.
More context is not always better. Remove personal, confidential, proprietary, or irrelevant details; use placeholders or synthetic examples when possible. Confirm that you have authority and that the exact service is suitable before sharing sensitive material.

Inspect and revise
Treat the first output as an object to examine. Which instruction was missed? Which claim lacks support? Which ambiguity did the system resolve incorrectly? Revise the source material, constraints, decomposition, or tool rather than merely demanding confidence.
No prompt wording turns generation into evidence. For important work, verify facts outside the generated answer, compare against primary or authoritative sources, and keep a human decision point. Sometimes the right iteration is to stop using the tool.
